Alpro is launching a special WWF edition of the 1 liter pack of Alpro Soya Original and Unsweetened drink in support of WWF’s forest work. For every liter sold, Alpro will donate 0,10 EUR to WWF, to help fight deforestation in some of the world’s most vulnerable habitats. Based on last year’s success in Belgium and Luxembourg, the fundraising campaign to support WWF’s forest work has this year also been expanded to the UK, Sweden and Finland.
Deforestation continues to occur globally at an alarming rate, which is why Alpro joined forces with WWF to help combat the threat that deforestation poses to the planet. Proceeds from sale of the special WWF edition Soya drinks in Belgium will go to the ECOmakala project in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Those in the UK, Sweden and Finland will go to the East Africa Regional Forest program, benefiting multiple unique forest environments across Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Madagascar.
In addition to this campaign, Alpro and WWF also have a long-term partnership that dates back to 2009. The partnership aims to address the challenges posed by the transition to a healthier, more sustainable system of food production. One of the many collaborative projects, for example, is Alpro and WWF’s work to communicate the benefits of a healthy, plant-based diet. Additionally, Alpro was one of the first companies in the world to set a science-based goal for production-related CO2 emissions. This goal will bring Alpro in line with the global action plan to keep global warming below 2°C.
Alpro’s partnership with WWF complements the natural sustainability of its products, which are resource efficient and have a low environmental impact.
